Award Winning Arts Centre in Alton

The Alton Mill is a unique place located in the village. Less than an hour drive from downtown Toronto, the Mill itself has actually received awards thanks to its conversion into a one-of-a-kind arts centre.

Originally built in the late 19th century, the Alton Mill has survived floods and fires to be the centerpiece and one of Canada’s most interesting and unique neighbourhoods. It was in operation until the early 1980s, but is now home to an arts heritage centre complete with retail shops, galleries, art studios, and even an assembly area.

Alton is also know for a few of it’s quaint shops and restaurants, particularly Ray’s 3rd Generation Bistro Bakery.  You may think from the outside, it is a small cute bakery shop, however, it is a thriving gourmet restaurant that reservations are necessary if you want to get a table any day of the week.

Located in Alton is the award winning Millcroft Inn & Spa.  This is part of the Vintage hotel group.  Also in this small haven is Osprey Valley Golf course.  Osprey Valley Golf course features 3 distinctive 18 hole champion courses.

Alton A Historic Place

When it comes to choosing the perfect area to relocate, whether it is a family or a business, the history and atmosphere of an area is crucial. The fact that Alton has plenty of history and an art culture unlike anywhere else means that both residents and business owners will be able to have a place to call home that is truly special, even when compared to other historic places.

Of course, it’s not just the mill that makes this particular neighborhood so unique. The rolling hills that surround the village allow for some of the most beautiful scenery that a person will find anywhere. The Mill overlooks the beautiful Shaws Creek and can be seen from nearby Queen Street. Anyone who considers themselves to be outdoor oriented will definitely find something to love in the incredible countryside surrounding Alton. Getting to and from this particular part of the village is easy thanks to nearby Main Street and Queen Street.

Alton Real Estate

Whether a person is an artist, retailer, or simply looking to find the neighborhood that offers the richest combination of art and culture, it is virtually impossible to compare Alton to any other neighborhood in Canada, or in any other part of the world for that matter.  Alton has eclectic housing options from the traditional grand century homes, to the simple Ontario farmhouses to the quaint cottage type homes set on the banks of the Shaws Creek as well as typical subdivision homes.  Alton real estate has been fairly stable over the years despite not a great deal of development.  As more services are available in the future, you may see increased growth and thus an explosion in the Alton Real Estate market.  It’s commuting location, makes it an ideal spot to call home.
